Preliminary Excersise - What does OCR want?

 What does OCR want?
For the preliminary task we have to demonstrate our knowledge of editing and camera techniques.
  • A character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite a character, whom he/she then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue.
  • The scene should demonstrate match on action, shot/reversed shot and the 180 degree rule.
  • The sequence doesn't need to be perfect

Key Terms:
  • Continuity - A system of cutting used to suggest a progression of events in real time. (no flashbacks, no fades out, etc. just cuts)
  • Match on action (Action match) - Shot of character and then another shot of them completing the action.
  • Shot/Reversed shot - Editing pattern cut to view in opposite direction (normally applies when there is dialogue)
  • 180 degree rule - Not going past the line of action
